Travis planted Story Church in 2019 with a core team of people. He and his wife Katy have two kids, Peyton and Owen. Travis is passionate about preaching the gospel and seeing lives changed by Jesus. In his free time enjoys reading, golf, and cheering for the Angels (and against the Dodgers).
ELDERS
The Bible teaches that Jesus is the Chief Shepherd of the church (1 Peter 5:4). He gives undershepherds to guide, teach, lead, and protect individual local churches (1 Peter 5:1-4). This role is called elder. Elder is synonymous and used interchangeably with pastor and shepherd. Elders must be biblically qualified, vetted, and called by the local church (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Acts 20:17-35). Their primary role is to serve the church through leadership, care, preaching, and prayer.

DEACONS
Deacons are appointed by the elders and we first see them in Acts 6:1-7. Deacons must be biblically qualified, vetted, and affirmed by the local church (1 Timothy 3:8-13). Deacons are called to unify the church, serve the body, and help the elders. While elders serve by leading, deacons lead by serving.

STAFF
Elder’s and deacon’s roles are primarily filled by lay (volunteer, unpaid) leaders. For day-to-day operations and service to the church there are paid elders and deacons. The staff members are accountable to the elder board.
